Hi, im thinking of converting my van to run on 16" or 17" wheels, and using car tyres, has anyone else had experience in running a van on car tyres? Ta

yes i have 16" on a mk3 tranny and the ole bill were gonna nick me and give me 3 points per wheel cos car tyres are commercial rated , even though my van is empty thay said i had to have it re-plated with a lower gross vehicle weight but i cant find anyone to do this at the mo so sod em!!!

Cheers mate, out of interest what wheels/ tyres are you using and did you use an adapter plate to fit them? And Hows the ride quality differ now?
I had a mk1 transit camper van and it wouldnt pass the brake efficiency on the mot due to the gvw on the chassis plate (was origanally a pick up) i just stamped a plate myself, pop rivited it on, cut the old one off and that was ok he just tested it to the new weight - im not sure if its any different for you cos that was a pre 1970 van (which dosent even need a chassis number to pass an mot) ;D

i've got the 16" alloys from tyresave the fox alloys with 225/50/16 mate

also no adaptor plates they bolt straight on the van tram lines abit on the slow lane where there are grooves from lorries but other than that there the bollocks
